What is an AI agent, and what does AI automation actually do?

An AI agent is a program that carries out a work task on its own: it reads incoming requests, writes replies, prepares a report, moves data between the systems you already use. It is not a chat window bolted onto your website. A person still approves anything irreversible.

AI automation is the wider service: we map how work actually flows, measure where hours leak, and replace the repetitive parts with something that runs by itself. A chatbot replies to messages along a script. An AI agent does the task: it reads the request, checks your CRM, drafts the reply, and files a ticket. You give it tools and a goal, not a list of canned answers.
